Editorial Policy and Sources

Last checked:

Every page we publish is based on sources that can be checked, and shows a “最后核实” (last verified) date. Visa, tax and safety pages are reviewed at least every six months. If we cannot find a reliable source for something, we leave it out or tell readers plainly to check with the embassy or the relevant authority.

Source hierarchy

  1. Host-government websites: immigration departments, company registries, tax authorities and investment promotion agencies.
  2. Official Chinese sources: the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) country guides (《对外投资合作国别(地区)指南》), notices from Chinese embassies and consulates, and safety advisories on the Chinese consular service website.
  3. International data: migration data from the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), the China Africa Research Initiative at Johns Hopkins SAIS (SAIS-CARI), and similar sources.
  4. Reputable media: Reuters and other international and leading local media, for recent events, always with a date.

Where sources disagree, we follow the host government’s current rules and note the difference on the page.

Dates and reviews

Each page shows a last-verified date: the last time we checked the content against its sources. Specific rules, fees and deadlines say when they apply (for example “as of 2025”). Visa, tax and safety pages are reviewed at least every six months, and sooner when a major policy change happens.

Population estimates

No African country has an accurate count of its Chinese population, and estimates vary widely. We give ranges with sources and years rather than a single definitive number. See Chinese population in Africa.

Corrections

To report an error, email info@feizhouhuaren.com with the page address and your source. Once verified, we correct the page and update its last-verified date; significant corrections are noted on the page.

AI-assisted drafting and human review

Some content is drafted and translated with the help of AI tools. Every fact must be supported by a source, and content is published after editorial review. The Traditional Chinese version is converted automatically from the Simplified Chinese text. For general topics, see Africa essentials.
