South Africa’s Electronic Travel Authorisation is live for Chinese passport holders
South Africa officially launched its Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) at OR Tambo on 12 August. China is one of the first four countries covered. You apply online with a live photo, and the government says results come within 24 hours. For now it only works at three airports.

China Southern starts Guangzhou–Changsha–Addis Ababa flights on 12 October
China Southern Airlines begins flights from Guangzhou to Addis Ababa via Changsha on 12 October, twice a week on Mondays and Fridays with a Boeing 787-9. It is the airline’s first route to Ethiopia and its second African destination after Nairobi.

DR Congo: Chinese Embassy tells citizens to leave four eastern provinces
On 1 October the Chinese Embassy in DR Congo rated Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu and Haut-Uélé as extremely high risk. Chinese citizens must not go there and those already there should leave. It also warned about Ebola.
