Gambling content
Gambling content is for adults aged 18 or over, and only where gambling is legal for them. Whether it is legal depends on the law of the country you are in, and for Chinese citizens also on PRC law.
Chinese citizens should note: Article 303 of the Criminal Law of the People’s Republic of China covers the crimes of gambling and of running a gambling establishment. Criminal Law Amendment XI, in force since 1 March 2021, added a third paragraph to that article: “organising citizens of the People’s Republic of China to participate in gambling outside China, where the sums involved are huge or there are other serious circumstances” is punished under the provision on running a gambling establishment, as the crime of “organising participation in gambling outside China” (组织参与国(境)外赌博罪). The amendment also raised the penalties for running a gambling establishment: up to five years’ fixed-term imprisonment, criminal detention or public surveillance plus a fine, and five to ten years plus a fine where the circumstances are serious. Nothing on this site guarantees that any form of gambling is legal for you.
Responsible gambling
- Only gamble with money you can afford to lose, and set limits on spending and time in advance.
- Never borrow money to gamble or try to win back losses.
- If gambling affects your work, family or finances, stop and seek professional help.
