What it means for Chinese residents in Africa
- Another option for people from Hunan: the Changsha stop means no change in Guangzhou to get home.
- Competition with Ethiopian Airlines: Ethiopian already flies Guangzhou–Addis Ababa nonstop [2][3]. Two carriers on the route may make seats easier to find in peak season, but no fare comparison has been published, so compare before you buy.
- Connecting to other African cities: Addis Ababa is Ethiopian Airlines’ hub. A China Southern flight to Addis plus an Ethiopian flight onward is usually two separate tickets, so bags may not be checked through. Leave plenty of time and check whether you need to enter Ethiopia to collect your bags.
